Who?

Rob

My name is Rob Nicholson of Humbled Eyes Photography. I decided to share my knowledge with others about my experiences as a photographer. I believe that the more I teach and write…the more I learn! My goal is to create a community where creative professionals can share knowledge and experience.

Whoooooooo?

OK…The full name is Robert Martin Nicholson and I was born in Wilmington, Delaware and raised in New Castle, Delaware for 20 years of my life. Playing in the woods, riding my bike, flipping through my baseball cards and collecting rocks were my favorite things to do! At age 11, I began working with my step-dad as a landscaper and saved most of my money to proudly buy my first car (The Family Van-1991 Chevy Lumina) for $3500! Along with a water bed and a brand spanking new diamond back BMX bike! Despite being a hard worker I wasn’t what you would call a “scholar” and (barely) graduated from Salesianum High School. Even though most thought I was just a dumb kid….I had a very good grasp on Astronomy and Planetary Science at a young age.

So life continued after high school as I worked full-time and enrolled as a full-time student at Delaware Technical Community College. Environmental Engineering was my degree of choice as it most related to my interest. Despite my lack of time management, organizational and study skills I did OK in college. After about a year I began getting burnt out with the non-stop mental and physical workload. Even though I enjoyed this new thing called learning, I had to put school on hold and continue working full time to pay the bills.

Soon after I felt I needed to experience more out of life I sold most of my stuff, said my goodbyes and enlisted in the United States Navy. As a cocktail of excitement and fear filled my veins, I showed up to the Military Entrance Processing Station in Baltimore, Maryland. The clothes on my back, a small bag of essentials, my original drivers license and some paperwork created the only sense of familiarity and comfort in this foreign environment. This began the next chapter of my life.

More to come…
